Havoc 7 - DePaul 2
DePaul's quest for a championship came to a close tonight as they were defeated by the Havoc. Both teams knew it would be a hard-fought game, but the Havoc were ultimately able to pull through for the win. Solid defense by the Havoc was able to prevent offensive attacks by DePaul. A few questionable calls by the referees ended up hurting DePaul, resulting in one key DePaul player getting a game misconduct. Several other penalties hurt DePaul as well - resulting in being short handed for much of the game. DePaul finally started making noise in the third period when Jonny Pliszka forced in one goal. Moments later Mike Chereso added another for DePaul. Unfortunately the deficit was too great and DePaul could not put together a comeback. Though DePaul did not win the championship, they were able to put together a successful first season; a promising outlook for the future.

DePaul 9 - Punished 5
DePaul continued its quest for a league championship by defeating The Punished on Sunday night. DePaul jumped ahead early and held the lead the entire game. Despite several questionable penalties - including a tripping penalty on DePaul's goaltender - DePaul kept their composure and focused on winning the game. Jonny Pliszka provided a powerful surge to the offense, scoring 5 goals with 2 assists. Ryan Anderson contributed 2 goals in addition to a solid defensive effort. Despite serving a 10 minute misconduct for high sticking, Mike Chereso was still able to add two more goals for DePaul. DePaul 4 - Cobras 3
Steve Sica proved to be a snake killer today as his efforts helped lift DePaul to a 4-3 overtime win in the first round of the playoffs. The Cobras struck first in the middle of the first period on a screen play, but DePaul was able to hold them off for the remainder of the period. At the start of the second period, the Cobras scored again by rolling a puck over the shoulder of DePaul's goaltender. Brett Barton got the offense rolling with a quick slapshot off of a faceoff, closing the gap to 2-1. The third period opened with DePaul still down, but Jonny Pliszka evened the score with a clutch goal by outskating three Cobra players and sending the puck home at the back of the net. Unfortunately a brief defensive collapse allowed the Cobras to capitalize and score with just minutes remaining. With under a minute to go, DePaul pulled their goalie and Sica was able to manuver in for the game tying goal. Regulation ended in a tie, resulting in a sudden death overtime. The Cobras were able to pull off a quick shot in the opening seconds of overtime, but it was easily saved by DePaul's goaltender. The offense was able to charge back the opposite direction, and Sica managed to poke in a loose puck in front of the net for the game winner. DePaul advances to the second round of the playoffs and will play against The Punished on April 23.

DePaul 1 - Diablos 4
Coming off a well played game against Havoc just hours before, DePaul looked to add another win. Though DePaul was able to outskate the Diablos, unlucky shots off the post limited DePaul's scoring to one. Tied 1-1 going into the third period, the Diablos were able to score two goals - and added one more later on an empty net. A Diablo player caused a scuffle at the end of the game, leading to a few game misconducts - as a result one DePaul player faces a one game suspension.

DePaul Puzzles Riddlers
DePaul 5 - Riddlers 1
March 12, 2006
Batman would have been proud. After a solid win last week, DePaul found themselves face-to-face with the top ranked team in the league. DePaul controlled the puck from the start of the game, and after a few minutes Brett Barton broke the silence - putting DePaul ahead 1-0. Minutes later Jonny Pliszka crashed the net and added another goal for DePaul. Strong defense from both teams led to a relatively quiet second period until Mark Pociask was able to put a low slapshot past the opposing goalie. The third period opened with DePaul up 3-0. The Riddlers were unable to capitalize on a few defensive lapses due to stellar goaltending; DePaul was able to regroup and resume their attack. Steve Sica put DePaul ahead 4-0 after firing a laser past the goalie. Leo Becerra put the nail in the coffin by shooting the puck through traffic and in the net. The Riddlers managed to score in the closing seconds of the game after winning a face-off deep in DePaul's defensive zone - but it was too little-too-late. DePaul, currently in a three way tie for fourth place looks to gain ground in the standings with another solid game next week.

Penalties Kill DePaul
Cardinals 6 - DePaul 4
Feb. 26, 2006
Frustrated from last weeks game in which they let a win slip away, DePaul entered today's game thirsty for a win. DePaul struck first with a goal by Ryan Anderson early in the first period. Mike Chereso extended the lead shortly after to put DePaul ahead by another, but the Cardinals struck back before the close of the period to make the score 2-1. The Cardinals carried their momentum into the next period and scored another to even the score. Early in the period, Chereso was issued a game misconduct for excessive penalty minutes; shortly after several other DePaul players began accumulating penalty minutes - at one point having four players in the penalty box at once. This allowed the Cardinals to score a power-play goal, putting them ahead. Jonny Pliszka helped DePaul recover with a wrap-around goal to even the score. In the third period the Cardinals were able to break the game open - scoring three unanswered goals aided by more DePaul penalties. Anderson was able to score another goal aided by a screen by Leo Becerra, but it was too little, too late as DePaul did not have enough time to recover from their careless play.

The Thunder Hawks continued their momentum in the third period and came out charging hard. They closed the gap with a goal during a delayed penalty call to bring the score to 3-2. With minutes remaining in the game, a Thunder Hawks' forward fired a wrist shot through traffic to even the score. Despite the late surge by the Hawks, DePaul was able to hold on for a 3-3 tie.
